This watercolor depicts an 1832 church in historic Haleiwa surrounded by a stone-walled graveyard.  It reminded me of a bit of Wyeth-like New England on Oahu. (14 X 20 original watercolor)

This large loose portrait of teen daughter Mia is from an iPhone photo.  Painted in a single sitting, the 2 x 2 foot square oil is proudly part of her bedroom decor now.   I especiallyb like the loose brushwork and the way the wet colors blend on the canvas.  24 x24 oil

Dancer

This watercolor depicts a hula dancer in a radial design recommended by Helen Iaia as part of her class at Hawaiian Graphics.  I was able to take some of Helen's class this winter where she stressed composition and the color wheel. Painted wet-in-wet using her sponge technique to avoid stretching.  11 x 15 watercolor

This heaiau near Maka Pu`u across from Sea Life Park was one of the first areas I visited with mark Brown's class.   This watercolor was done in studio from an iPhone photo I took on a return visit.   I discovered I rotated the warning sign when I was done painting.  11x 15 watercolor

Mount Ka`ala

This panorama was done in studio from a series of photos taken along the back road between Wahiwa and Waialua.  The blended clouds encroaching on the mountain top were smoothed with a large dry brush and the dried stalks of grass were added with the palette knife.  12 x 36  oil

Early Shadows

This small plein air was done at Ali'i Beach Park in Haleiwa before the life guards arrived for the day.  I partcularly like the strong cast shadows and the design they create.  8 x 10 oil
